How do multiple online seats work?
Each student uses an individual account and email address for course access, exams, and private certificate downloads. Ask ATC to coordinate the student roster and payment arrangements. Online course access lasts 90 days from first login; each student’s dashboard shows their access expiration.
Can our purchasing department request an invoice?
Yes. Include your invoice requirements and purchase-order process in the quote request. An inquiry or purchase order does not activate access; ATC must confirm payment or approved eligibility.
What are the classroom options?
Scheduled Houston and private two-day API RP 578 training are $1,695 per student. Private offsite classes within the United States require a minimum of six students. Dates and availability are confirmed by ATC.
Can teams outside the United States inquire?
Yes. Include the students’ country and preferred start date. ATC will confirm payment and enrollment arrangements. Online students receive access to their personalized digital manual.
What earns the completion certificate?
Students complete the required curriculum and pass both exams. The Main Exam contains 100 questions and requires 80 correct answers (80%); the Weld Dilution Exam requires 54 of 60 (90%). Each exam includes one attempt. Any retake requires evaluation and approval by Brian Wilson, ATC. The certificate title is API RP 578 Comprehensive PMI Training and documents 16.0 CPD Hours.
Completion and operator training
Each API RP 578 student must complete the required curriculum and pass the required exams to earn ATC’s Certificate of Completion documenting 16.0 CPD hours. Employer and credentialing-body acceptance is subject to their requirements.
X-550 and Z-900 operator courses are included with API RP 578 enrollment as separate, optional resources. Each operator course issues its own certificate upon successful completion. Standalone operator training is also available.

Superior Integrity Services
“This course is everything advertised, plus more. You have the opportunity to learn from and interact with the leading subject matter expert in PMI. Brian helped me build a solid foundation and provided a comprehensive look at what PMI as a whole can offer, strengthening my ability to support my team and clients.”
Asset Integrity Manager
“Ferguson Industrial has utilized the ATC API RP 578 training for certification of our PMI techs for years. Recent improvements to the curriculum have taken the course to another level. We now consider ATC a partner in our training program rather than just a "rubber stamp" certification. The course provides valuable insight into all aspects of PMI so that participants leave with an understanding of proper technique and the science behind it.”
Quality Manager
Ferguson Industrial
“Our company enrolled several students specifically to understand more about carbon equivalency, instrument performance and their application to pipeline integrity services. My colleagues and I were very encouraged by the capabilities of handheld LIBS.”
